Everyone is welcome to join us under the pavilion at Upper Ross Park in Pocatello, ID for our annual outdoor worship service. We call this service “Jason Lee Sunday” because Jason Lee, a Methodist pastor, is credited with being the first missionary — Protestant or Catholic — to the old Oregon Territory. We recognize the problematic nature of Methodist missionary zeal and acknowledge the harm caused to native peoples through land dispossession, cultural erasure, and boarding school abuse. Remembering Lee is an invitation to remember the complexities of history and to make amends where we can. Our service will incorporate native spiritual wisdom and ritual, and it will be followed by a potluck lunch. It is all very casual. Join us!
